On Sunday 11th Dec, five young Harriers travelled to Swansea for the first U11 / U13 open event of the indoor season. In the words of " Strictly's " Bruce Forsyth..." didn't they do well ".The small band of Pembs SAS ( Special Athletics Squad ) troops were vastly outnumbered by their hosts Swansea but still managed to win three of the multiple events categories. This was even more pleasing because for all of them it was a totally new experience competing indoors,

In the U13 girls there was a very big field of 26 athletes but Esme Greer was a clear winner by over 100pts, winning the 60m and 60mHurdles in the process.A great result for her, especially as she hadn't thrown the shot before ! Amy Rothero did very well to finish 7th out of the field of 26 and there's plenty more to come from this young athlete in the future. A special mention to Lauren Watkins who travelled to Swansea for her first outing in a Pembs Harriers vest. She did very well in her race and helped to keep the Pembrokeshire flag flying.

In the U11 girls, Chloe Butterworth won the triathlon and in the process won the 60m and the Long Jump. Well done Chloe...and watch out big brother Oliver !

Someone else with a big brother called Oliver was William Hughes who won the U11 Triathlon helped by wins in the Long Jump and the Shot. He did a pretty mean sprint as well...in fact I think he was the fastest shot putter in the hall !

So, a good first outing of the season for the youngsters in yellow and blue.

Well done !!
