Last Sunday ( April 23rd ) 18 Pembrokeshire Harriers athletes travelled East up the M4 to Newport for the first Welsh Athletics League match of the season. This League is for U17/U20 and Seniors. Last year the Squad finished well up the table and is hoping to do the same this year.

The weather was sunny but there was a strong headwind which hampered any good times on the track. However, as usual, all the Harriers gave it their all and there were some good performances throughout the team. There were 5 pb' team members, Ollie Wheeler and Ben Whiting who pb'd in the 100m, then Shaun Zygadlo in the 110m Hurdles (91cm) and James Tomlinson in the 1.75kg Discus and Andrew Salmon in his first 400m race.

Jo Salmon undertook Team Manager for the day and did a great job juggling things around. Thanks to all those who competed and filled in where necessary. Also thanks to the family members who supplied the support, food and words of encouragement.  As usual there was a good Pembs Harriers team spirit and the team finished the day with a great win in the Men's Relay and finished 5th overall. A good start to the campaign.
