Katharina receives trophy for 3rd OF

Ras Cors Caron (Tregaron 1/2 Marathon)

Four Harriers made the journey to Tregaron for this hilly race where the goodie “bag” included a nice beanie hat and a free warming bowl of cawl at the local Rugby club afterwards. Babs Thomas was slightly miffed as she arrived too late for the 10.30 early starters having taken 2 hours to get there via Newcastle Emlyn.

Star Harrier performer of the day was Katharina Hetze who was 3rd open female in a PB of 1:57:25. As well as the medal, she`ll have good memories of Tregaron to take back to Germany when she returns in a couple of months - especially the cawl!

Laurence Worth was troubled with cramp in the early stages of the race – probably a reaction to his run at the Gwent cross country League meeting the day before but he overcame this and stormed through to finish in a respectable 1:44:13.

Paul Edwards was running his first half marathon since this same race a year ago and the lack of training mileage showed as he struggled over the last 3 miles. He`s going to stick to shorter races from now on (he said that after last year's race!)

Babs Thomas again put in a solid run and was in front of several ladies a lot younger than her. I hope her journey back home was shorter than the one going up.

Gwent League Cross Country - Brecon

A 10 minute delay to the start was the cue for running repairs to blisters for Laurence. Unfortunately, the gun signalled the start after only 5 minutes, leaving Laurence sitting in his car with shoes and socks off!
