On a soft underfoot  course, prepared well by Oakwood ground staff,  844 school children in years 3,4,5 and 6 braved the wet/misty conditions and provided an exciting days cross country racing. 47 primary schools from all parts of the county entered the championships but unfortunately only twelve had full teams to compete for the overall winning team.

This years champions were Saundersfoot, runners up Tavernspite and Milford Haven  Juniors in third place. The winning boys and girls year teams were as follows:

Year 3 Girls - Tavernspite

Year 3 Boys - Narberth

Year 4 Girls - Mary Immaculate

Year 4 Boys - Haverfordwest V.C

Year 5 Girls - Mary Immaculate

Year 5 Boys - Frenni

Year 6 Girls - Tenby

Year 6 Boys - Hakin Juniors

Pembrokeshire Harriers and Mary Immaculate Catholic School would like to thank all volunteers from the club and school who helped in the organising and running of the event. They also appreciate all the help from Tasker Milward/ Fishguard and Sir Thomas Picton Secondary Schools  who helped with marshalling and providing the “Hares” for the young athletes. Oakwood Leisure Park Management for allowing the use of the park for the event. St John Ambulance for providing the excellent first aid to the three children who required it. Finally the staff from Pembrokeshire Sports Department and Andrew Jenkins, Welsh Athletics Sports Development Officer for their valuable assistance.
